Apple announced a new 14-inch MacBook Pro using its house-made 12-core M6 chip, which first debuted in the Mac mini this summer. The design is unchanged from its predecessor, with the focus on performance, and it offers a nano-texture display option for the first time.

Apple says the M6 chip brings up to 30% faster graphics and 25% faster AI workloads over the M5 Max MacBook Pro, and credits a smaller die with less heat production and faster performance. Apple also claims the M6 allows the laptop to achieve 24 hours of battery life.

The M6 MacBook Pro starts with 16GB of unified memory, with up to 32GB configurations available, and includes Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, a six-speaker sound system, three Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI, an SDXC card slot, a headphone jack, and MagSafe 3 with fast-charge capability.

Pre-orders begin Oct. 28 starting at $1,999, with availability on Nov. 6, in space black or silver. The report notes the lack of other redesign may not make it a compelling upgrade for the average consumer, especially given the MacBook Neo is available for thousands of dollars less.
