Longi introduced the Hi-MO X12 series at All Energy Australia 2026 in Melbourne on October 28-29. The series targets residential, commercial and industrial rooftops, with the larger LR7-72WVD module intended for commercial and industrial applications offering power ratings from 660 W to 690 W.
The modules use a conductive backsheet in which conductive metal foil circuits are embedded within the module's rear encapsulation structure, with cells connecting directly to this backsheet instead of conventional soldered ribbons. Longi said the design removes more than 15,000 potential solder-joint failure points per module and increases the current-carrying cross-sectional area by 85 percent.
Longi attributes an additional 6 W to 8 W to the redesigned interconnection and a further 8 W to 12 W to Full-Screen Technology, bringing the combined power increase to between 14 W and 20 W. The company also claimed its ultra-thin stacking process reduces internal stress by 60 percent, while an integrated metal foil barrier cuts water vapor transmission by 90 percent.
The smaller LR7-54WVD series comes in four power classes between 495 W and 510 W, with datasheet efficiencies from 24.25 percent to 24.99 percent under standard test conditions. It carries a 25-year product warranty and a 30-year performance warranty, with Longi guaranteeing no more than 1 percent degradation in the first year followed by 0.35 percent annually.
Longi reported a maximum module efficiency exceeding 25.54 percent for the LR7-72WVD. Australian pricing, initial shipment volumes and a commercial delivery schedule have not been disclosed. At the Melbourne event, Longi also introduced its Hi-MO 9 Prime utility-scale module and displayed LongiBank 3.0 and OneMatrix energy storage solutions, together with its Longi Block modular photovoltaic system.
